چکیده
The effects of N,N-dimethyltryptamine on electrically evoked potentials in the visual system of the cat and the interaction of selected neuroleptic agents with ~ethyi~yp~mine were studied. Dimethyltryptamine caused a doss-dependent decrease in the amplitude of the response evoked by stimulation of the optic chiasm as recorded in the lateral geniculate nucleus and the visual cortex. Dimethyltryptamine had no significant effect on antidromically evoked potentials in the lateral geniculate nucleus or potentials in the visual cortex produced by optic radiation stimulation. A dose-dependent biphasic effect was found in animals pretreated with various doses of chlorpromazine, haloperidol, thiothixene, molindone, methiothepin and octoclothepin. Methiothepin and octoclothepin were the most potent antagonists of dimethyltryptamine, while molindone was essentially ineffective. Low doses of the neuroieptics, with the exception of molindone, potentiated the inhibitory action of dimethyl~yptamine on evoked responses.

Evaluation of the Slope of Amplitude Growth Function Changes of the Electrically Evoked Action Potential in Three Months after Receiving the Device in Children with Cochlear Implant
Objective: In neural response telemetry, intracochlear electrodes stimulate the auditory nerve and record the neural responses. The electrical stimulation is sent to the auditory nerve by an electrode and the resulted response, called electrically evoked compound action potential, is recorded by an adjacent electrode. The most important clinical applications of this test are evaluation and moni...
متن کاملNoxious behaviors from subcutaneous injection of formalin and morphine tolerance effects on the responses of addicted male rats
Formalin as a chemical noxious stimulus evokes a biphasic pain that its second phase as a chronic inflammatory pain is similar to clinical pain. In this study, we used 40 NMRI male rats (250-300 g), and experiments were carried out considering ethical rules. Experiments were performed in normal and morphine addicted rats, the addiction was induced by Leung method. Behaviors of flinching and lic...

متن کاملAbnormalitites of Visual Evoked Potential in Migraine Patients
Background: Visual evoked potential (VEP) is regarded as a useful, reliable and non-invasive technique for the diagnosis of lesions in the optic pathway. This technique was used to investigate visual function in migraine. Materials and Methods: 53 migraine patients (27 migraine cases with aura and 26 common migraine cases) and 55 controls were prospectively enrolled in this study. Visual ev...
متن کاملAssessing the Effect of Opium Dependence on Visual Evoked Potential (VEP) in Men
Abstract Background: Opium-dependence having different effects on the nervous system is a common problem, especially in the Middle East and Iran. The aim of this study is evaluating the effects of opium-dependence on visual evoked potential (VEP) in men. Methods: Thirty subjects with both chronic cigarette smoking and opium-dependence (group 1) and 30 subjects with only chronic ciga...
